Why A Painter Is Always A Better Investment Than Doing The Job On Your Own

Whether you are painting your home or your business, it can be very tempting to save a couple of bucks and do the work on your own. After all, how hard can it be to put on a few coats of paint on a flat surface, right? Well, the answer is that painting is not nearly as simple as it looks and sounds, and there are many precise, technical parts to the job that you only get through experience and training. Here are three reasons why you should always hire a painter instead of trying to do it on your own.

Getting The Colour Right

If you think that the colour you see on the tub of paint is exactly the colour you are going to get, then you are in for a rude surprise. Often times, the paint will react differently to the canvas (your wall) as well as any undercoats you may have. Sometimes, the paint requires two or three (or more) coats before it starts to even resemble the colour you want it to be. A painter knows how to get the right finish every time, while on your own you will probably get frustrated and give up long before you get the desired effect.

Doing It Efficiently

At one point, you need to weigh up how much value you place on your own time. If it costs a few hundred dollars for a professional painter to paint your home in a few hours, is it really worth it to spend three or even four times as long, on your own, doing something you have no experience in? At the end of the day, you might end up with a job that looks slightly worse than the work a professional painter would do if you are lucky. More often than not, you are left with a very messy wall and an uneven coat that is too thick in some places and too thin in others.

Insurance

Painting can be a messy job, and while you no doubt will take precautions to stop your floor, furniture and appliances from getting paint on them, sometimes accidents happen. When you use a professional painter, you usually get the benefit of their insurance. So, if something does happen, you are completely covered. This peace of mind is worth a lot, especially when it comes to very personal spaces like your home and business.
